About the Author

Richard Eduardo Hug — better known as Richie — is a Swiss-Mexican product leader and designer based in Zurich.

Over the past decade, Richie has helped shape the European payments landscape through roles at Datatrans, Planet, and Wallee, building products that turned complexity into clarity. From developer-friendly documentation that helped win major clients to award-winning integrations and a modular product suite adopted across Europe. Later at Planet, he spearheaded the redesign of the company's reporting and merchant experience, introducing a modern unified portal that set new standards for transparency and usability.

Outside of work, Richie's an engineer at heart: a builder of mechanical keyboards, a 3D designer, and a horror games lover. An avid traveler, having lived and worked in Geneva, Zurich, Dublin, Kuala Lumpur, and Mexico City.
